You might be interested in a sequel film if you enjoyed the Uncharted video game series or the action-adventure movie from 2022 that acted as a prologue to the game titles.

If you’re a fan of Tom Holland, the young actor who played Nathan Drake, the protagonist of the film, you might also want to see a sequel.

What’s the plot of Uncharted?

We get to meet the streetwise Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) in this prequel film before he develops into the fabled treasure hunter from Naughty Dog’s gaming series. This is not to suggest that he doesn’t look for riches in this film.

Unfortunately, Antonio Banderas’ merciless Santiago Moncada, who is also searching for the wealth, makes Nathan’s already challenging mission even more challenging.

When the treacherous fortune hunter Chloe Frazer (Sophia Ali) also shows up, things get more complicated for our hero as he rushes around the world to recover the treasure before Moncada gets his hands on it.

Uncharted 2 hasn’t been officially announced as of the time of writing.

The likelihood of a sequel is typically influenced by the participation of the principal cast and crew, the critical reception, and the box office results.

Reviews received from critics were not unanimously positive. We scored the film a 7 out of 10, noting that it was enjoyable and true to the original.

Other reviewers were less than complimentary yet many still acknowledged that it was one of the greatest video game adaptations in existence.

The movie did well at the box office despite the mixed reviews. A movie with a $120 million budget has a worldwide gross of more than $400 million, which is impressive.

These impressive figures indicate that a sequel is likely. But as we’ve already mentioned, it depends on the actors and crew. Are they keen on returning for more?

We can only hope that Holland might make a comeback if the appropriate circumstances arise. Of course, Holland might be more interested in returning to the part if he can give the character more substance (beyond just appearing tough and cool).

What would the plot of Uncharted 2 be?

Since the previous film’s cliffhanger involved Nate’s long-lost brother, we suspect that the sequel will revolve around their reconciliation.

Uncharted 2 might also stick to the plot of one of Sony’s video game franchise’s previous instalments.

Fans of video games will recognise certain sequences from the original film, but it wasn’t based on any particular game.

Without confirmation of a sequel, we are figuratively in new area, so this is simply conjecture.

But unlike moviegoers who aren’t familiar with the Playstation games, game fans will probably be more familiar with potential narrative points.

The potential cast of Uncharted 2

If a sequel is approved, Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg will hopefully return as Nate and Sully, and there is a chance that Sophia Ali may return as Chloe as well.

If you haven’t seen the film, we won’t go into detail as to why Antonio Banderas and Tati Gabrielle, who played his double-crossing merc, won’t be appearing in the sequel.

When might Uncharted 2 be available?

It is difficult to say at this time because a sequel hasn’t been officially announced. Due to director and writer changes, as well as the inescapable issues brought on by the COVID-19 epidemic, the first movie took a while to get to the big screen.

We hope Uncharted 2 doesn’t face the same delays but as Tom Holland has lately hinted about an acting break, it might still be some time before we get to see a sequel.
